Does anyone have any insight or have done this conversion? I found this cross member here http://www.tdperformance.com/Universal-Crossmembers-With-Pads but Im not sure how to figure out what I would need for the trans mounting theres so many choices 3 inch drop no drop etc... http://www.tdperformance.com/Universal-Fit-Transmission-Crossmembers any advise would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

What I really like about Chassis Engineering is they usually offer their swap kits in either weld in or bolt in style, something most others don't.

Bolt in is best for future changes. you can get one for the motor, mock it up with tranny and measure for the trans mount. All these things can be adjusted, modified, shimmed, spacered, fabed..... at mock up. Don't know about 42 but this has been done a whole lot with old trucks. For the rear end I installed the "Pumpkin" from a 1956 1/2 ton with 3:38 RATIO. The pumpkin bolts right in to the 46 housing. You will also need to install new axel mounts and weld them solid. the rear end has held up fine behind the built up 283. I can provide pictures if you need them.
