I will soon have my '47 1.5 ton back on the road, repowered with a Holden 202 and a 5 speed. With the standard enormous 5.47 rear end and 20" wheels it will do 2500 at 60mph. I have fitted EFI to the engine and it will be good for about 160HP which is not huge.
What will that diff last like, running at the higher speed? Anyone fitted a 350 or whatever to a big bolt and done huge highway miles?
They have an uncaged roller pinion bearing, not great for really high speed but probably OK?
Anyone got any info on replacement bearings for the differential or wheels? Mine has 149,000 miles on, no sign of any wear anywhere, but the bearing faces are very dull. Thanks!
