Finally got my brackets welded up to run the sway bar on my GMC front crossmember and took it for a spin today. Let me tell you, if you don't have a sway bar on your AD pickup, you should get one! The improvement in handling is more than I expected. It makes me greedy for more! I should have shot a before and after slalom course video. Man I'm stoked! | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,748 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,748 |

There has been controversy whether or not the 1/2 ton sway bar will fit a 3/4 ton. I purchased one from Eckler's and all that I had to do was drill the mounting holes larger (to 5/8") in the U-bolt mounting plates. 15 minute job to install once the holes were drilled. I hope I get the same handling improvement. Dave V | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 | I wonder if the original sway bars are as good?? I got one off a panel truck I was going to install on my pickup....

Now I'm considering a rear sway bar. Hmmmmmm.

John Absolutely. A local bolter gave me the one off his panel as he went IFS. Body roll while rounding on/off ramps was the biggest complaint with my truck and this mod reduced it big time.

Curt, did you have to get new rubber bushings for yours? My sway bar is the older style with the 6 rubber bushings that fit in the eyes, I think they were made up till 1950-51 then they changed the design of the sway bar. Anyway, JC had bushings listed for it. But when I got them they are a little smaller than the originals were. It was nice to fill those crossmember holes with something that appeared like it was "missing" before. Pics.

I just pulled an original from a 53 Carryall that looks like Curt's and installed the aftermarket bar Thursday. Have not heard back from the customer yet but I am sure he will notice a big differences.

They can easily be installed on any 3100 model.
They were not standard equipment nor an option for any other models.
