I'm looking to refresh the painted areas on the hood and fender emblems on my '59 as well as the horn button. The original paint ranges from scratched to faded to gone. I'm looking for any tips on getting good clean lines, good adhesion and durability. Thanks.

I used some of the left over red paint that was used on the truck for some places w/ a fine artists brush, and flat black spray bomb - a bit of slip can be easily wiped off the smooth chrome, or later taken off w/ a razor blade - where the paint needs to be in the recesses, apply it to the whole area and wipe off the high spots where it's not wanted - don't expect great durability on the exterior items if you really drive the truck, especially in any weather and highway speeds, unless you wanna try to scuff sand the chrome eek after 2 winters daily driving mine was fading a bit and the hood emblem looks a bit 'sandblasted' grin very original looking now!

don't remember just what the 59 pattern is, but the hood emblem on the 58 can be masked and sprayed pretty easy w/ the red/black like original, and I think the 59 should be much the same

I did just as red58 suggested on my 59. I used chevy "orange" engine paint for the red areas and just Rustoleum for the black. ~2 years and I'll redo it this summer. Looks good just not perfect.
The restoration pack from Chevy has the paint scheme for the emblems in it as well as the available paint schemes for the whole truck line.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure that you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!
