While visiting w/the original owners remaining son over the weekend he indicated that he had found the original sales invoice, title and loan contract on the purchase of the 49 3100 I bought from his him & his daughter.

Some interesting tidbits I garnered from these doc's.
The base sales price of the truck before options was $1185.00.
A set of 650x16 6 Ply tires ran an additional $28.00
Freight & Handling was $149.25
The optional oil filter was $10.85
The optional horns were $13.95
Labor to install the horns & oil filter was $4.00
A tank of gas was $4.00
Sales tax was $27.74
Total sale $1422.79

Date of the sale was May 27, 1949
Model is listed as a 3104

He put down $822.79 and financed the balance of 600.00 which the loan contract showed he paid off 3 days later. His son couldn't remember what he sold to pay off the load but he said his Pop was a wheeler/dealer and probably had an old car or truck and perhaps some horses that he sold.

One thing I found very interesting was that he didn't purchase a heater w/it. I guess being late spring they weren't worried about it at that time.
They did buy and install a recirc aftermarket heater kit from the dealer at a later date, probably before winter set in.

They made me copies that I'll add to the book I'm putting together on this old truck.

What a valuable piece of original info you acquired. There can't be many Stovebolters that have that for their trucks. I know I don't.

Most of us WISH we had something like that... a really cool thing to have!

It is interesting to me that dealers were sticking it to the buying public, as they still do today, with 'extra charges' which should have been included in the sticker price. To get a better handle on these charges, adjusted for inflation, add a zero on the end of the extra charges. (Not to take away from the coolness of having that document. I feel like Debbie Downer now.)

Can you scan a copy and post it? I am wondering if it is similar to these sales contracts from my 1949 and 1950 Salesman Order Books?

That's awesome! I had all the paperwork on my '76 Stingray and I have it for a couple other vehicles I've rescued but nothin for my truck.

We can tell you haven't been to a new car dealer lately, LOL

Brad, the invoice looks to be more dealer specific and is not as detailed as your example.
I do have a scanner and will block out the name and post a copy soon.

I'm going to guess that if Glee had taken delivery of the truck w/the 600/16 tires he could have saved a little $$$. Oddly enough the very old spare, perhaps the original was a 600/16.
Either the salesman was good or Glee figured he needed bigger tires for the bigger produce loads he was going to carry.

It's amazing to think of the mindset of the folks that lived through the depression and 2 world wars. No radio and no heat on a brand spanking new truck but horns to clear livestock out of the way and a bypass oil filter to prolong engine life. No frills.

I'm lucky in that I knew Glee the original owner and I'm still very curious in what he sold to pay off that $600 note. He knew how to trade
