I am doing a frame off restoration. I replaced all the brake components hard ware, lines, hoses, replaced the single tank with a dual tank with a power booster etc. except the drums and backing plates on a 1956 Chevy 3100. A while back when I was buying parts I purchased some of my items locally from the FLAPS. They gave me the wrong rubber hoses that goes to the front end. I did not catch this error until I started assembling all the chassis components about 8 months later. The hoses they gave me was for a 1/4 inch brake line. The brake hoses I needed were 3/16 inch. I thought in my brilliant little mind since I was replacing the brake lines anyway I would just go ahead and buy a 1/4 inch ez bend brake lines and get an adapter that reduces it from the master cylinder from 3/16 to 1/4.

Now I have 1/4 inch brake line running to the front passengers and front drivers side brake hoses which connect to the wheel cylinders and which also runs to the other hose going back to the rear end.

I have talked to the flaps people and several mechanics and I am getting conflicting thoughts on whether or not this is acceptable.

Is this acceptable what I did? By upgrading the line size did I cause a hazardous condition? Will this be safe?
Should I go buy new front rubber hoses and replace the lines back to a 3/16 inch brake lines.

What are your thoughts. I do not want to blow out my wheel cylinders. MC

Hy Tiny_Jaime, I don't think what you've done will cause any dangerous conditions, after all the "upgrade" from 3/16" to 1/4" is a minor one, I would leave what you've done alone and carry on.

cool thanks, one of the Flaps guys put a bug in my ear and said he was not sure but did not really think it would do any harm then he said he just knew that the smaller line would make more pressure not sure what the 1/4" line would produce and since I did not take a fluid dynamics course it has been bugging me. I figured you guys would know or point me into the right direction.
