Has been over a year since I was last here to chat with ya'll. Work and the foul winter weather has kept me from any of my projects.
Since summer is here and I can finally get back in to the swing of things, I have a new list of questions for the board.
I acquired a rebuilt chevy 350 engine from a late 70's vehicle. I intend on putting it in my 55' 3/4 ton pickup.
I removed the original engine, ( I believe it was a 250 c.i.? Also has a 4 speed manual trans. I am pretty sure the bellhousing will fit the 5.7 no problem, but can I use the same flywheel and clutch over again.? Any fitment issues there? Thanks, Brian

You may be able to use the clutch. If someone has updated to a 250, that bellhousing, flywheel, and clutch will fit the V-8.

Found that the engine in it was in fact a 235. So my cousin Glenn gave me a bellhousin for a Chevy v-8 that he had. Along with a flywheel.
Now I am gonna have to do something with my trans mount situation as this bellhousing does not have the provisions on it for the original mounts. Brian.

It will have the correct rear motor mount pads. For front mounts, either an aftermarket add-on setup or the original V8 mounts and brackets would be appropriate. Do you intend to stick with the original transmission or something newer?

I am going to stick with the original trans for now, ultimately it is getting replaced with a SM465 with a NP205 transfer case. I have matching Dana 60's to put in it sometime this summer. THey have 4.88 gears and are all painted up and ready to go with new Axle seals, u-joints, and brakes. Hope to be able to put 37's under it with enough clearance. A local spring shop came to look at it and they feel that with the correct lift springs it can be done correctly, and safely. This truck is a factory longbed stepside 3600. I love it and can't wait to drive it on the road.
