I need info on glue for 2 locations:
The roof in my cab is painted. First I glued the repo plastic headliner in with 3M spray adhesive. First time out in the sun it came loose.
Second time I went to the hardware and got Dap contact glue. Next time out in the sun it came loose.
Anyone have name and part number for something that will hold?
Also what part number for contact glue for door weather stripping?

are you using the contact cement properly? spread on both surfaces, not too thin, let it get tacky before mating,, apply pressure everywhere with a roller - and you might need to use a cleaner on the paint, especially the 2nd/3rd time .... I've not had 3M spray fail on my headliner or anything else .... and 3M weatherstrip adhesive does the door seals well, it's really a contact cement too

Thanks Bill. Yes I did the contact glue like you said. One thing may be a problem, the headliner came from Car&Truck shop and it is sort of corrugated in small squares.

Which 3M did you use? I'm partial to Super 77, I used it to install not only the headliner, but also the insulation in the cab. Still holding solid, even after 12 years.

I've had the 77 fail on light weight fabric headliner when it
got hot in the summer time.
Since then tried this, you make up your own mind:

My shop is 15 miles out of town, but I think I used the 77.
Denny, yes it is the sun that has caused mine to fail, both times. I will try the Hi-Strength 90 next. Does it seem to be working for you? I have become an expert at installing and removing that pesky rubber seal.

All you can do is give it a try. Just make sure you clean 'both'
surfaces good and are not trying to go over the adhesive that
was previously used.

Thanks Tim. Lots of choices. I was trying to find the one the guy uses on the you tube video showing how to install door weatherstripping. It is in a red tube, black adhesive, and he says it is a contact also, but he does not tell the part number.

Most likely any auto parts store will sell it.

The stuff in the aerosol cans will let loose eventually. You need to use the stuff upholstery shops use. It won't let go in the heat.
