I'm in heaven. Got vacuum and timing set nice. Got my Langdon dual webers tuned, Williams headers sound nice! Have nice rat tat tat on acceleration. Got my dual pies straight out back, just finished clamping them today. Look Awesome!

Found a pinhole leak in the brake line crossing to the left front. Replaced that line. Had the rocker cover off, put new hats on the valve stems (thank you Pre 68 Dave!). Replaced a leaky oil gauge line.
Put everything back together, cranke 'er over, was rewarded with an awful squalling sound, a fwap and thump. Lord, I've somehow blown up my babbit pounder 235!
No, failed to notice that the brake leak had been spraying up just in front of the generator. At least, I think thats what caused the poor things bearings to seize up. The fwap thump was the belt letting go. But I had an extra generator in my box of extry parts, so thats on now, go hit the MFA for a belt tomorrow.

I just finished adjusting the rear brakes on the Suburban. While doing that I noticed the backing plate bolts were loose. I had to pull the drums to fix that. ( also new MC installed last week or so ago) I hope to get that buttoned up this week so it's back on the ground and ready to roll. Installed an hei in the 235, built and installed a complete pcv system so no more dirty down draft, replaced all soft gas lines and installed a gas shut off valve so future gas filter replacement will be mess free. Also fabbed up a timing marker on the balancer to make future timing easier. Dennis I don't know that it has a name. I picked it out of a catalog at the paint shop for the Nason paints. Here the codes for the paint I shot it at 8:2:1 (paint/reducer/catalyst)

I always set the ends in whatever i'm using overnight to let the stain/clear soak in real good.

Also lubed the chassis while I was under there. New el system too, needed a bit of troubleshooting but now everything works except the blinkers. Horn works, gauges work, lights too. The 235 has a bit of extra pep!

Slow going at my age (82) but I am determined to get it done. I will attempt to document the crossmember install as I go with some pics. Would love to hear from anyone else that has done this particular installation.
