The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Headlight bulb = $40 ??

Seems like it always goes this way. Had a bad headlight bulb in my 38, so I went to local part stores and nothing in stock (6V 32CP). Decided to order from Carter and bought 2 bulbs ($19 with shipping). When I try to take the lense off, clamp screw is rusted and stripped off on trim ring ($2 for new stainless screws). Then the gasket in headlight bucket is dry rotted and falling apart. I ordered a 40 durometer rubber sheet from McMaster Carr to make new gaskets ($18.50 with shipping). Don't ya' just love these old trucks??

NAPA carries the ones I need for my '46 (also 6v) but perhaps yours are different. Yep, ya gotta love 'em.

It didnt take me long to learn that a good look over the parts diagram before i order was needed. I go ahead and replace most all the parts at the same time this way it saves on shipping as it is just way to expensive.
