Anybody know where I can find a parts list or exploded diagram for the side vent? I have the handle and the vent itself, but it seems like there must be a few pieces missing. Was there a screen on the side vent like there is on the cowl vent? Unfortunately the body assembly manual is for a '54, which doesn't have a side vent.

I saw one open at a cruise night this summer and you could see straight through to the inside of the cab. I would think that it wasn't quite right. I would think there needs to be a screen, at a minimum.

Surprisingly, there is no screen. Nice straight shot from outside to the louvres inside. If no one else posts within the next couple of hours, I'll go snap a picture of my 49 and post.

Ken--
I'd appreciate your photo. I think I must be missing the interior piece on which the assembly pivots. Have no idea what this looks like or where it attaches. I have the lever which attaches with two screws to the top of the curved bracket which is spot welded to the sheet metal flap. It seems like there has to be a third piece, the one I probably flung into the bushes two years ago when I took the cab apart.

Well, it waited till it was dark out to stumble around and take a few pictures. I looked at the 49 and a 50 suburban to try to get a few good shots. I hope these help.

Great pictures! Thanks. In reference to your first photo, there are two clutch head sheet metal screws on the vertical part of the bracket. Whatever those screw into is what I haven't got. Is it possible for you to see in there to determine what that part looks like and what it's attached to?
Your third photo shows a spring, which I'll bet rusted away and broke in most cases. I know I would have saved that if it had been there when I took things apart. My problem is that I had two cabs in my shop, and the one I chose to restore may not have had a side vent in place when I got it. I'm concerned that the piece I'm missing might have been spot welded inside the fender. Don't know how I'll be able to fix that, since all the body work and painting are done.

Here you go Dusty

This is right after I hauled it home in a pretty bad rain storm. Lots of bondo, lots of rust, broken springs, you name it! But I have everything I need to put it all back in order. smile

Thanks Ken , thats one very cool panel truck .. Lovely to see . I enjoy seeing the old trucks when they have some sign writing added , showing that they were/are workers .
