When I removed the bed from my 1956 3600 several railroad spikes fell out that had been wedged in there for ages. They had worn some dent spots in the back of the cab and front of the bed. The second owner (who sold it to me) in Rockdale TX had told me he had heard that the truck had been used to haul railroad equipment back in the day. . . . he may have been right.

In my 54 3100 I had a squirrel living in the seat bottom. Truck was flat bedded to my garage after sitting 22 years in an old barn type garage. Never saw the squirrel, but did see the footprints on the dusty hood that was raised up in my garage, I assume he ran out when I raised the garage door! Also found several walnut shells in the seat back.

I found a big bucket of fun and a few cans of frustration.

The floor of my cab had a big rust hole that was patched with a portion of a 1950's Tennessee license plate (the ones that are shaped like the state). I couldn't tell what year it was because that part was missing. Surprisingly, that was about the only relic I found in 3 different cabs I have owned!

Now we all know old trucks rattle.

Ever since I got my truck on the road one noise in particular has been plagueing me,a weird metallic drumming sound when turning corners.

Yesterday I went on the hunt.

I'd originally removed the original deluxe fresh air heater on account of the core being kaput.
I had no reason to suspect anything there as I'd assumed the heater had never been out the truck.

I had a good idea where the noise was coming from but wasn't expecting what I found,after removing the blank and contorting my hand round and down I found 'the rattle', a 12oz beer bottle inside the box section.

As far as I can work out the ONLY way to get that in there was if the heater had been removed and the bottle placed there.

I'm not sure if it's been some kind of prank played in the distant past as when I was younger we would pop a door card at a corner and drop a golf ball inside friends cars doors and it would drive them nuts trying to work out where the noise was coming from so maybe this is just Kharma biting me back!

LOL - we would put marbles in the hub caps, talk about a racket.....

curious how old the bottle is and the brand. I wonder how many years this was in there?

I'm not sure,the label is long gone. I did find a bunch of bottle tops down in lower hinge pocket that must have fell through the rust hole at the inner cowl/floor join.
I never thought to keep them and I can't remember the brand. It was a while back...

When removing my heater core I found an old metallic spring clip from a dairy delivery service. it had a 3 digit phone number on it. must have fallen through the glove box floor into the heater core.
