The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Leaf spring bushings - or what I call the dilemma of 2014

I ordered and received parts from a vendor to replace my shackle bushings and front/rear single bushings on my 1946 1/2 ton leafsprings. The bushing that goes in the 'front of the rear leaf spring' and in the 'rear of the front leaf spring' are what I am concerned
about.

If you see the picture below, the bushings/bolt/jam nut I received from a reliable vendor look very different from the ones the local auto parts store sells even though both state they are specifically for a 1946 1/2 ton Chevrolet truck.

I want to make sure I have the right parts BEFORE I start disassembly.

What the FLAPS shows are king pins, not shackle bushings.

I don't know squat about the pre-AD trucks, but it seems odd that the FLAPS photo, if a kingpin, only shows one bushing. Kingpins need two bushings. And, if your spring mount has a place for the lock pin, I suppose both designs would accomplish the same task.

The one that the FLAPS shows are for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks,thats not a king pin set.Last year I replaced all the spring bushings on my 53 GMC project and thats whats in there.You'll need the other ones for a 1/2 ton. I've never worked on a pre 47 truck so I realy don't know what came in them.

Thanks everyone... I think what I have is correct for the single mount ends.

I also got these for the back of the back leaf springs and the fronts of the front leaf springs. I will keep yall posted on fit, etc.

The difference is one is for a chevy and one is for a GMC...
Back in the forties GM was GMC wasn't it? As in GMC is the parent Chevy is the child.
If you look at GMC spring parts @ rockauto for the mentioned years you'll find the 'Bolt' type not the 'pin' type.

Big Tee, those are some nice looking shackles. Where did you get them? Who sells them?

Thanks Spotbiltxo. I bought them from Kansas City Spring. However, the ones for the front appear to be incorrect. I will keep you all posted.
