hello chaps,its been a while, 261 engine with a knocking noise? i know is hard to tell ...but think without experience, its my crank bearings. its fine on tick over and knocks when rev, its also when im driving under load but not on the over run.

my health is not the best and cash is a problem, anything i can do with the engine in the truck? take the pan off and look at the bearing?

ive a bloody hernia and an brain tumor hence not being on here or working on the truck (lifes changes!) its not going to kill me tho.....I cant lift much... hence what can i do without pulling the engine?

With some time and perseverance you can disassemble the whole engine while it is still in the truck. That would be the worst case. If you can pull the pan, then each bearing can be inspected one at a time. This is a good place to use plastigauge and if you can still pull a torque wrench you can check each bearing this way. Looking for any damage or deformation of the bearing and crankshaft. What you may have is a wrist pin or piston that needs attention. That will require some help with the head. It is very heavy. Do what you can, don't hurt your self and take some time to heal. Use the truck for therapy. And have some fun finding out what you can do.
