The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 235 Modern Pressure Plate?

I've got the stock plate from my 235 but would like to swap to a raised diaphragm pressure plate. Anyone know where to get one or what pressure plate from whatever other vehicle will fit?

I'm sure you could get a pressure plate from somewhere like NAPA

your best bet is to get a complete clutch kit at NAPA

Certainly an option but then I've got a clutch disc I've paid for and can't use. Was just hoping someone had it figured out and knew where to source one.

What is the year of your flywheel?
What is the diameter of your clutch disc?

NAPA does not show a pressure plate by itself. Most likely you will only be able to buy a clutch assembly as a set. If you know the part number of the pressure plate, NAPA might be able/willing to look for it.

Your first consideration/problem in even finding an assembly is that the assembly will have to match the diameter clutch/pressure-plate that can be attached to your flywheel.

The parts suppliers probably sell the set, instead of parts, because the clutch and pressure plate have to match the flywheel, and the release bearing has to match the style of the pressure plate. Purchasers and counter-people would regularly be confused/mistaken in trying to match up old/new individual parts in the assembly.

Well I suppose before I get too far into trying to mix and match clutch parts, do the older pressure plates still shift well?

The original type pressure plates shift just fine.

Depending on the year of your bellhousing, this clutch set up may not fit through the opening. A friend found this out with his 37 coupe.
