I have a '49 chevy 3100. Not all original, 1970 engine, TH350, etc.

Heater motor and core appear original and when I put power to the terminal on the side of the motor, it spins.

Question is, what kind of terminal is it and what kind of connector do I use? Never seen one like it (never owned anything this old either). A regular push on connector won't go on. Are there special original ones I can order?

Thanks

Meyer,

Is it a 'bullet' connector? I remember a short pigtail with a rubber covered female or male connector. Why can't you snip it off and crimp on a insulated connector of your choice.

Are you going to run this motor on 12 volts? They make voltage reducers if you're so inclined.

I have enclosed a link to 'bullet' style connectors.

It is not a bullet. It is a short post with a plate on top if that makes sense. Looks almost like a mushroom but with a flat top. Sorry for my horrible description, I am a beancounter grin

Identical connector on the engine's temp sending unit... (remember 1970 250 engine) so the sending unit is on top of thermostat housing.

I am planning to run on 12 volts. I hooked up the 12 volts just for a sec, hope I did not damamge it. I will get a reducer.

Meyer,

I can visualize the little flat top post on a sending unit. This must be one of the 'not original' parts. Don't know where you would find a connector for that, other than a junk yard.

The fan motor is quite durable and some folks have skipped the voltage reducer and run it on full 12 volts. It sounds like a 747 at full throttle, and in the end, might affect it longevity somewhat.

Thanks. I have a factory assembly manual on order so I'll know more in a few days.

I am guessing i will modify a connector and solder it. Seems like if I cut the flat top off the post, there would not be much there to work with.

Thanks again.

I believe you can use one of the standard female "tab" type connectors (sorry I can't remember what they are called). You might have to take a flat head screw driver to open it up a bit but this should work. I have that ype of connector for the temp sending unit on my engine as well, so I think I know what you are describing.
