For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 695 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 695 | Guys, I've got an SM420 mounted to my 261, ready to be installed onto my '59 truck frame. I have a problem and need some help. The teeth on the speedometer pinion are worn so badly in one spot, I need to replace it. I thought, no problem, I'll find one on Ebay. What IS a problem is that my pinion has 13 teeth and I can't find one like it. There is a pinion and gear set on Ebay that is a 5-19 tooth arrangement. The question is, will this work in my tranny? Can I just pull out the gear ring from the yoke that matched my pinion and put in a different set? I hope this is clear enough to understand... sheesh. Any help is appreciated!
