There is no VIN. That is a modern term.
In 1951 vehicles were titled by either the body serial number or by the engine number, depending on how the jurisdiction where it was registered did it.
The body serial number should be on a plate on the driver's door jamb. The engine number should be stamped on a machined boss right behind the distributor.

welcome to the Stovebolt. If this is a Canadian truck that was registered in Ontario, they would have used the number from the plate on the driver's door jamb. That is how mine is registered and they used that number to search for an ownership in the system. I do have the ownership as i just bought the truck and its now in my name and on the road, 4 days ago.
I will check the number stamped on the engine as you suggested Cletis.
When i find that number, how will i know if it is the original engine to the truck?
How do you guys know it is not a Canadian truck...is it becuase it is a model 3600 and in Canada it would have been???

Hard to be sure if it is the original engine unless the engine and title match. Even then it could have been swapped and the tittle changed to reflect the swap, as should have been done. Many times though the engines were swapped and the titles weren't corrected.
Post your title number format and we can determine how it's titled. | | |
