Had to get an early start this morning to meet John down the road. Left about 6am to a nice cool, 60's morning. Nice day for a drive.
Pulled in to meet John and George B. and his son in law were also there. I'd sent George a note late last night but he got it in time.
We ate, then drove on down to Branhams Junk Yard where Jay was waiting on us. Jay also became our personal guide in the yards. Thanks Jay.
John scored a nice steering wheel and some other pieces so he is a happy man plus his confidence in his truck is building up for more cruises.
Lot to see in those junk yards but the Tin Worms are working full time. One yard had an old shark nose Graham and a Morris Minor that I would not be surprised to see Jay take home one day. Lots of OLD stuff in one yard. It was also nice meeting Roger Branham. Nice guy to chat with and I'd like to have the running 31 Chevy he had sitting in his shop!
Stopped and had lunch then off to the Plaza. We were the first to get there but the crowd started coming in about an hour later. Plenty there for everyone to see so if you didn't go this time you better plan on meeting there in the future. We had a small shower that kept the temps down. Lasted maybe 5 minutes or so and was gone.
While there we got to meet Big Ol'Dawg and his lovely wife ,Beth. She and Johns daughter, Haley, became best of friends.
Man, did Ol'Dawg ever score a nice ORIGINAL 53 pickup. Farm fresh and in grrrreat shape. Oh, did I mention it was in great shape smile
Also met lgc there. We had a nice chat before we left later in the evening for home. John and I trucked it on back home about 6:15.
I have a couple pics and I know Jay/John may have some to post. I'll put up a couple after I get them downloaded.
So, it was John and Haley, George & Davy, big Ol'dawg and Beth and myself along with lgc. I also meet a bolter who did not even know we were coming! I told him he needed to check out the bolt more often!!

It was a good day, fun time and we need to gather there again. Plenty of room and lots of eye candy. Made some new friends and introduced some nice folks to Stovebolt.com

Thanks to everyone. For those that had a change of plans at the last minute you sure missed a fun time.

Here is a couple pics I took early on after the junk yard tour. I was having so much fun I forgot the camera!
Met a couple new bolters and introduced a few guys to the Bolt.

Guys I can't say enough how great it was to meet y'all! My wife (Beth) even said you know out of all the car shows we've done (with other vehicles) having the bolt was the best! She said the fellow bolt owners/enthusiast are much more fun than others we've dealt with which I completely agree!

Strangest thing happened after y'all left that I feel like I must share. While you know the story on my truck (purchase locally, grape farmer etc) I met a couple after y'all left that came up and started talking about the truck. Somewhere in the conversation the gentlemen asked my where I found it. Well I said east side of town from a local grape framer as he's passed and I bought it from his daughter. The man then says Louie Chappell and I was like yes; you knew him? So we proceeded to talk about the man that owned the truck before me.

I was dumbfounded that after all the years that truck has sat hidden behind the mans house where his daughter now lives and I take it to the first show in over 20+ years and I meet someone that knew him. I personally find this amazing and couldn't believe this is possible over a truck. Certainly we all recall a memory when we see something that sparks this but to meet a person who knew a man I never met and then to have owned that truck and know him by name IMPRESSIVE in my book.

Certainly not your everyday my granddaddy or my daddy had a truck like this experience. Just wanted to share. Let me know when we will meet again. I'm driving her a little more each week so I'm game to travel. Pleasure meeting you all Travis.

Travis,
That was your 1966 C10 BBW Fleet, right? Very glad to meet you. I didn't have my truck there because it's still apart. One day, yes, one day . . . . hmmmm.

Anyway, glad to see you are here on the Stovebolt. Keep that truck on the road.

EDIT
This is a NICE 1966 C10 truck, but not Travis' truck.

This is Travis' Truck

Jay

Travis had the ORIGINAL AD pickup from the farmer. A nice original. Well, it did have a set of new tires but it looked like the valve cover had never been off. Nice running to.
