Looks like they painted the side access covers on my 59 Panel when the body side was horizontal and didn't have anyplace to paint small parts. Other side same thing. Looks like a "standard" procedure that year.

Yep. My '57 3105 inside wall has silhouettes of painting the lower wall access covers.
I couldn't readily identify the other items. What do you think they are? Inner Wall

more likely just 'wedged' the covers in there so they could be painted when the rest was done and would be handy for installing, knowing there would be cardboard panels added to cover the sloppy workmanship wink

I guess the other items you see are the glue line (from a roller?) for the tar paper/cardboard. You can see some of the material in lower right of my pic. Bill's probably right about wedging since they are all even with a body line but there is no actual place to wedge unless I have a piece missing.

notice the 'bars' that frame those recesses are painted, but with overspray all along them, and there are little tabs [where the cardboard is attached] right above each mark ... hang the covers from those tabs and as the painter sprays around the space he just jogs a bit to hit the covers .... the patchy black areas are where pieces of the sticky sound deadener tar paper was, same stuff as between the 'headliner bows', strategically placed to dampen the drumming resulting from large flat panels, placed after paint

Good thinking Bill, I do see that each cover is in line with a mounting tab.
