Has anyone tried the trailblazer SS or Colorado frames under these trucks or know how close they are to fitting I just found out last night I get to help my dad redo his 1954 3100 he said he'll take care of the body but the frame is on me. if it would work it would be sweet having the V8 already and being all wheel drive

These guys widened the fenders. Probably not necessary. The were GM employees so, they were on the clock and had the tools & time.

A quick word of warning if you do go ahead with using the Trailblazer frame; Plan on rebuilding the front suspension. Trailblazer, along with its GMC/Oldsmobile/Buick/Isuzu/Saab relatives, are known for wearing out lower balljoints and outer tie rod ends.

I think doing a chassis swap on anything would require some sort of suspension rebuilding, let alone a 60 year old truck front end.

S10's weren't really known for having trouble free front ends either. Weak ball joints and idler arm.

I had 180,000 miles on my Trailblazer before I needed any suspension work. I replaced the outer tie-rods, the strut arm bushings are worn, but I'll fix that another day.

Agreed. Just wanted to pass along known trouble spots on the chassis, I've changed out more balljoints in those, as well as S10s, than I care to count grin. In fact, I actually am going to need to put at least a pair of uppers in my foul weather '85 S10 4x4, it'll be the second set for it.
