As nearly as I can tell, for '53, the instrument panel is grey, no bright or painted trim. Window cranks and knobs maroon plastic. Steering wheel, column & shifter SEM 15423 "Taupe".
What are the correct colors for seat cover, door panel, armrest, headliner and sun visors?
Any help greatly appreciated. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 122 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 122 | Thanks Steve. It looks like the color I need is "Sheen Gray Metallic" for the cab and dash. I appreciate the help.

The steering column is gray, need to check on the wheel though. I suspect the seat color was maroon because the filler panel found on the upper rear of the bench seat was maroon, the original door panels were maroon too. The headliner was gray in color. Knobs were all maroon plastic too 1953 Chevrolet 3100261 cu inch, sm420, 3.55 rear, torque tube still, omaha orange, still 6 volt, RPO green glass, side carrier spare, all done In the DITY GalleryVideo of the 261 running1964 GMC 1000305 Big Block V6, sm420, the next cab off restoration

Correct original door panel http://www.nloc.net/photopost/data/2692/medium/0205.JPGWhen I glass beaded the recirc heater box I noticed it had never been repainted either and was the original dealer installed with early 53 date codes on the heater core. http://www.nloc.net/photopost/data/2692/medium/P1170341.JPGShot of the dash with the gray column and wheel. Note the windshield had had a leak and stained the dash above the gauge cluster. I went with as close a paint match on the interior as I could manage. I could not match the headliner, so I went black and like it better anyway. Only thing I have left to do is paint my black repop steering wheel...if I ever do. You can visit my photo album to see how it turned out. The colors are sometimes hard to distinguish between the grey and the brown tones. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 122 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 122 | | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Very nice Still for me it's hard to tell if that's grey or sheen grey metallic Or the dark tan metallic, looks kind of light to be the brown color. One of the charts linked above shows sheen grey metallic for 53 The current paint looks to be in real good shape. Did you say your truck was a 53 delux? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 122 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 122 | Yes, a '53. I just bought it, as it sits (see picture). The paint is in good shape but needs to be buffed. Bed wood is beautiful but varnished with stainless strips, not correct for '53. Interior is new and nearly complete, I'm just not sure about the color. http://lymanhall.smugmug.com/Trucks/1953-Chevrolet-3100-Truck/i-VDqQDPv/0/M/0425141113a-M.jpg The truck is at about the 75% restored stage. Engine (original 216) is out and many other parts are in hand but have to be installed. I also know the grille, hubcaps and bumpers are not correct for a '53 (should be painted). Wheels are original 16 inch. Truck has a side-mount spare. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Very nice
Hopefully someone will be along to let you know the correct interior paint color for 1953.
I guess now would be the time to change it (if you wanted to) since its not 100%together.

I found the OG interior color behind the floor jute. The gray you have is also a correct color according to my research. OH the roll of TP is for contrast.
