My 1952 GMC gauge remains on full with key on. With key off reurns to empty. I took the sending unit wire off the tank and the fuel gauge(KEY ON)WENT TO A LITTLE ABOVE EMPTY ...RIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE. WHADDA guys think? bad ground? Terry1218

i've found that most problems are caused by bad grounds.

Bad sender, which could be only a bad ground. Try a ground wire from the sender to a good ground. When i trouble shoot for grounds i take a jumper to the neg battery. Also seems like your gauge is not accurate. With wire off the sender should read empty, ground the wire and you should read full.
