Many people seem to think the rubber from all vendors is the same or alike. I recently replaced my door weatherstripping as I wasn't happy with the fit of what I had originally installed (from Classicparts).

I discovered there's in fact a huge variance between what you end up getting and decided to share some pictures here of the 3 brands I used (attempted to use).

The original part from Classicparts was correct in its shape, but just didn't fit right ( classicparts ) for me.

I decided to order from LMC. After receiving it, I took one look at it and thought they must have sent the wrong part. It was sent back and replaced. The second shipment still looked the same, so this is obviously how their supplier thinks it should look: LMC . I have no idea how they think that could work.

I then ordered from Steele. The shape is identical to Classicparts: Steele but it's slightly larger when uncompressed than the Classicparts one yet compresses far better and seals the doors. It also gave me far less headaches at the belt line.

Thanks for the vendor comparisons. It is helpful to see the difference in products that are all marketed to "fit perfectly". This issue seems to crop up with most items. I have resorted to asking the sales people to measure items before I order them so that I can lessen the number of returned items. Unfortunately some of the employees are not receptive to making measurements, or they don't know how to use/have the tools. For rubber parts, I agree with Bill, Steele Rubber makes the most precise parts. They are often the most expensive, but the rubber is of good quality and the parts fit...and the items are manufactured in North America.
