The one it is supposed to have is for sale for about $60 while the one I have goes for over $200. Why the big difference? Is the correct one that cheesy? I think I'll keep what I have and just clean it up. Sometimes correct isn't better.---Jack | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | They may be asking $200 for a '54-'55 1st hood emblem but they won't get it. Use what you like or keep looking around and get a correct one when you find one.

They are less common than other Advance-Design hood side-emblems. Let us know if you see two 3100 1955-1st emblems sell for $200.
Other hood side-emblem time periods: part-1947 - early-49 later-1949 - 1952 1953-1954 truck

It is the one on the very front. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | A front hood emblem for 54/55 that has no dents and has good metal inside/back and good mounting posts would cost more than $100 (maybe $200 in excellent condition).

All studs are there but I can't find any hardware to make them stay in the hole. Anyone got any tricks for doing this?or a source of the original style hardware? My sources don't list anything.---Jack | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 815 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 815 | Go to any hardware store to the screw dept. They should have small push nuts that come in different sizes. They are a rectangle shape. Make sure to take the trim piece with you. Actually, I don't think that is what they are called, but they should know. | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 544 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 544 | If the emblem is NOS (new old stock) it may fetch that. Original tooling, never installed, heavier and better metal. The repop's are thinner and not as pure metal, and may not be 100% perfect versus an original piece. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | A front hood emblem for 54/55 that has no dents and has good metal inside/back and good mounting posts would cost more than $100 (maybe $200 in excellent condition). It may be a regional thing but I see these emblems on ebay all the time for less than $100 and they don't sell. If they are worth that much, anybody that needs one or more please contact me, I have many!Bruce | | |
