I installed a new dual reservoir MC & bled the brakes. Jacked it up & supported on jack stands. The drivers rear stopped very well, but the passenger rear didn't. Figured all I had to do was to adjust the shoes in the passenger rear a bit. It has the original 4:11 posi rear gears. One thing I did notice is that when the drivers rear tire stopped, the passenger rear wheel speed increased. Is this OK and has anyone run into this before? I realize there is a primary drive wheel, even with a posi, and I assume this is only caused by the tires being up in the air? Make the brake shoes touch the drums just enough to hear them scrape as you turn the wheel. If it does, maybe there is some weird interaction going on here. I'm assuming that the torque forces were divided between the two wheels & when the one stopped the other sped up to carry the load. Also found that the passenger rear had a sticking wheel cylinder. That is now fixed & the brakes are AWESOME! Good to know that the suicide MC is gone & some brakes will be there even if half of the system fails. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | There was no Posi version of the torque tube rear. Positraction became an option on 1/2 tons in '59, using a Spicer 45 axle w/3.92:1 gear. You mention in your first post that when the left wheel was stopped, the right wheel would turn faster. This is normal for an open differential, a Posi differential would not allow you to do this, it would have locked both wheels together.
