Greetings I'm sort of newbe here.

I have a 1965 C60 dump truck 292 with a cracked intake. Truck is sound and I've run this since 1985 on my land and kept it up as a useful working tool.

I own a 1964 C10 230 3sp/mnl and a 1964 K20 292 (both just purchased)and going to build a 1964 4wd bringing parts over from my 1977 K20-350-auto and make a luxury truck fully loaded.

Question? - Can I use the intake and exhaust manifold from either the 230 or 292 on my C60. The Manifolds casting numbers don't match up. What difficulties will I encounter?

Get to know Conversation:
I also own a 1987 K30 Farm Truck that needs some restoring, but very road worthy and a 1977 K20 that is completely done and in my junk truck lineup 350, auto full time 4wd, 4:56 axles and ran about 9 mpg on the road. All mechanics is good and well maintained until the cab rotted and I replaced with the K30 in 1997. The 77 was a good rock solid 4wd and would tow about anything and travel anywhere with a hy lift jack. The truck was a lot of sporting fun. I am going to build a 1964 K20 that will do the same. We have plenty of spring mud and back country here in Maine to sport in.
I also grew up in a Chevrolet Oldsmobile Dealership which I ran for 11 years, so I know a bit about Chevrolet.
It will be nice meeting with you guys and lets have some fun.

The 292's should be a direct swap on the manifolds, with the possibility of a mismatch of the exhaust pipe flanges. Some of the bigger ones used a 3-bolt exhaust flange and a bigger diameter exhaust pipe, but if they're both C-60's that shouldn't be a problem. The 230 intake/exhaust assembly will probably bolt on, but there will be carburetor, and possibly exhaust pipe differences to deal with. Good luck!

Thanks Hotrod Lincoln
The two 64's are long bed pickups
* 1964 2wd C10 230/3spd I won't be using this motor and trans
* 1964 4wd K20 292 4sp I like the 292 it's a good engine
* 1965 C60 Dump Truck needs the Manifold
* I maybe using (Thinking about) my 350/auto/transfer from my 1977 K20 if the conversion is doable. That is a future discussion.

I need the Dump truck as soon as the snow Melts and mud dries up.
* What problems would I have in using the 230 Intake and exhaust?
* Will it be designed to deliver enough Air/ Fuel to maintain the power?
* Is there a problem with just using the 230 intake with the 292 exhaust manifold?

Sorry for these types of questions because the 1964's have not been brought home here yet as they are snowbound. I know I need to remove the C60 Manifolds because I have to replace the exhaust studs because they are rotted and ready to snap off if I try to tighten up the exhaust pipe and it is a difficult area to tend to this. There is a lot of room but those stud bolts have been a [censored] and I'm running it with a exhaust leak and have also been patching the intake manifold with hi heat silicon until I can get to the repair project.

You may want to compare the 2 manifolds for bolt holes for mounting carb. linkage ect.
The original manifold on my 57 270 coe has been brazed on before. The PO gave me another manifold with the truck.
Then I noticed mine has threaded bolt holes for my carb. linkage and the one he gave me does not have any.
Mine runs great with the welded manifold, so I guess it will stay on the truck.

i patched a pretty big crack in one,with J.B. Weld. I put a 60-watt bulb,(in a trouble light on it,to cure over-nite,and the customer used her car daily,for over 5 years. She'd come back for an oil change,or water pump,but the manifold patch held-up. Hope this helps.

wetwilly5757 I thought of JB Weld and I've used a lot of it through the years. I didn't know how successful it would be when the manifold heats and contracts. I was going to get it brazed, but needed to use the truck and sealed it with HiTemp Silicon and that works for a while then I need to scrape off and reapply.

I may try using the intake from the 1964 230 because I am leaning towards using the 292 4wd, the decision maybe to use most of the equipment off my 1977 K20 and don't know whether I'll use the 292 or 350, both should bolt to the Auto Transmission/transfer. The question will be how much restructuring to change from frame mount transfer of 1964 to Trans mounted Transfer of the 1977.

Question?? - I know the exhaust manifold outlet looks bigger from pictures and it is 3 bolt. vs I believe the 230 by memory is only 2 bolt (?probably?), I should be able to get by with using Carb and intake from the 230 if mounting bolts are different for the carburetors. The two manifolds should still bolt together ?Shouldn't they?
