what is the 1/4" pipe tapped hole for on a 235 . it is on the drivers side at bottom of block near the firewall? I have the oil filter lines screwed in near the center of the block on the drivers side. should this be plugged or is it the oil temp gauge hole? Thanks in advance, MJ.

There is no oil temp sensor on these old engines. What you have is the drain for the coolant at the back of the block. Put a valve on there and you can flush the block when you flush the cooling system.
