I assume it needs an oil seal, but I am looking for some input or pictures on how to do it. I have a service manual, which isnt too clear. I know the axle shaft has to come out and possibly the bearing?
Any help would be great! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | You will need to remove the hub and then the oil seal is accessible on the inner side of the hub. There is no need to remove the bearing. You will probably find that your brake shoes have oil on them and that contamination will cause them to grab.
The manual talks about the oil seal on page 4-11. It tells how to remove the outer bearing and the seal but you only have to remove the seal. On the next page it explains how to adjust the bearing when installing the hub. The illustration is helpful as it shows how the hub is secured. | | |
