The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay Turn Signal Switch Housing

I did a search on this but could not locate anything on the subject. The concave housing for my turn signal switch (that mounts over the steering column on the back side of the steering wheel) continues to loosen and slide down the column toward the dash. The turn signals obviously cease to function when this happens. I am an admitted rookie, but I cannot find anything to tighten or otherwise secure the housing in place. Please forgive me if I am missing something simple. Anybody have any ideas?

you need a new wedge , or at least it needs tightening - the screw is in the cup from below, maybe yers is missing? available from vendors like our sponser

A trick that also helps is to wind a few wraps of duct tape around the column where the wedge tightens uup against it. I had the same problem, new wedge helped, but didn't fully cure the problem. A few winds of duct tape, tighten the wedge, and Presto! Problem cured.

Thanks guys. The screw is in the back of the housing, but tightening it doesn't seem to make any difference, and I can't get a decent view of the wedge. I'll try the duct tape, and if that doesn't work I'll get some replacement parts ordered from AC and see if that does the trick. I appreciate your help.....

duct tape long term makes too much mess - I fixed one by just slipping a thin piece of neoprene in behind the wedge, the problem is just that the wedge gets too smooth and rounded to hold against the column
