Anyone up for a phlying trip to Philly either the 4th or the 11th? I'm going up to grab the gear set for Charlie's axle upgrade (Homecoming group project). Joe has a couple of Junkyards with classic (AD) trucks in them we can peek in while there. We are hoping to score some extra goodies at one yard, at least -- maybe another gear set?

Anyone?

Billy, Can we come up Thursday, camp out in your shop and leave at the buttcrack of dawn Friday?

I would have had to bail on Friday too, you guys wouldn't want to sleep in the shop this time of year. Still a tad chilly compared to last summers deluxe shop camping climate.
We can try again next week. I have a big project at work that is wrapping up with the grand opening on the 12th so we will see. If things go well between now and next Wednesday maybe I can swing it.

Mr. President, there's always a seat for you. I'll just make Roache ride in the back.

Billy, we may just get an early start, swing by your place and grab you and off we go. It's only two hours from your place, right?

Rush Chair;

Why not take rt 301 straight into Deleware, never any traffic and then Phiily is a short hop from there. It is the route we take when visiting the inlaws in New Jersey. If it is next Friday I might be in. Is your recent purchase in the plans for pick up as well?

John G -- 301 is out of the way (and backtracking) if we're picking up Marlow. Besides, I don't like paying tolls smile

Only problem so far is I have seats for 5 (including me). If Mike R, Billy, Hambone and Cosmo are going (Sweet is 1st alternate) ... Love to have you join us but you might have to just meet us there. If we have a drop out, would you be able to meet us somewhere on this side of the bridge?

The G177's are coming all the way here by commercial freight.

Here's the plan:

Leave HQ by 0530. (Milliman, Hambone, Cosmo)
Pickup Roache, Billy enroute.
Rendezvous with Joe. His plan after that.

Return same way, with drop offs in reverse order. RTB Late.

Cosmo -- are you in?

Roache -- Roger that. We'll shove off as soon as you and the 'Bone are in the truck (NLT 0530).

Gott -- You're in if you still want to go. We can go 301 now.

First one on deck Friday morning can claim shotgun...

Can either Mike or Doug help me get Joe's hood down tomorrow evening?

Thanks,
John

Glad this is working out. I know several of you need a get-away.

Me and the neighbor-lady are going to do a pre-lim scope of the Produce Auction for the Homecoming weekend. (hehehehe)

Can't make it. Trying to get well enough to make Hampton, but can't even put my name in the hat just yet.

I look forward to seeing you guys on Friday. Bring a change of clothes in case we need to dry out. We have a place to change in my landlords shop. I have a fair amount of tools if we want to carry them to the junk yard. I also need you experts to look at my 216 block. I have some slight drips when she idles. And maybe a candid discussion about the rusting hulk of what's left of my cab......any idea of your ETA gentlemen ?

Unless we hear otherwise tonight, I guess it's just MR, HB and JC. ETA? (train guys ... wink ) I'll have a better idea of that when we get there... smile You would know that better than we would, Joe -- we'll be leaving here by 0530.

Hambone -- I should be home around 6-ish. Freja has her first visit with Dr. Dave this evening.

Joe -- Thanks for hosting us today! A fun day in a very interesting yard. I left my cord in the truck or I'd download some of the pictures.

We made it home fine, other than traffic, potholes and redlights...

I pulled up the picture I took of the donor truck's build sheet ... Other than the VIN, it really doesn't tell us much. It was a cool truck when it was "alive"

Thanks again!
John

John M.

Sorry I missed out, the Mrs. was in New Jersey until this Thursday, and I had "parent duty" over 2 teenage boys. Completely forgot about this road trip. BTW, the Mrs. told don't die in New Jersey, it has been a PITA with her mother's estate.
At this point, homecoming is not looking good either

John -- Yeah, I was hoping all was well with you, not having heard. You all have had a lot on your plate, so we understand!

It was a gorgeous day and perfect for junk yarding -- t-shirt weather but early spring so no overgrown foliage hiding everything or snakes. A few bees but they kept to themselves. Lots of interesting vehicles.

Fun day. Thanks Joe. Junkyard is worth going back to, although it is hard to negotiate when the price-man can't hear your counter.

That's a good point about early spring junkyarding. Those bees are pollinators so unless you had your big bright red or yellow Hawaiian print shirt on, you'd be just fine.
