The u-joint on my '53 half-ton must be replaced along with all gaskets and seals and I'm going back with a new okie seal. Now the problem: There are no universal joints for this model pickup to be found, at least from the places I know about. Does anyone know of a vendor/distributor who might have one in stock. Kantor says they have the entire assembly (they think!) but not confirmed at this time. Any help appreciated!!

Have you tried contacting a driveline shop?

Nearest shop for that type work is about 300 miles away and say they need the old part for comparison....then they recommended a machine shop. Also said they would furnish the Vaseline if I decided to go the machine shop route!

Are you looking for a repair kit or a complete assembly w/yokes?

Are you looking for a u-joint for a 3 speed or a 4 speed??

I've been searching on the internet for a universal, but the most you find is the cross for them. Looks like the best chance would be Ebay or you might try checking Craigslist for someone parting out a truck....

You might go on and fill out the "looking for a part' on Jim Carter Truck parts. They may have a used one....

Transmission is the stock 3 speed. I had originally ordered a repair kit but since none are available, I will gladly purchase the complete assembly w/yokes.

I have a master cylinder overhaul kit (Raybestos # MK33) which was ordered and opened before noting it's incorrect for my '53. It shows on the box to be for a 47 thru 52. This kit will repair a cylinder with 1 1/4" bore. It is complete and I will give it to someone needing it. Contact me here or call me @ 325-242-7015.

If you know exactly what you are looking for in terms of type, dimensions, etc., vendors like Summit or JEGS, have u-joints, yokes, etc., available. They are usually located in the hot rod section.

I have a '53 half ton, although it is a 4 speed, torque tube. I was able to get a NOS one locally. He still advertises in old "Old Autos" paper every week. I still have my old one to compare it to...Let me know what you want. It wasn't too crazy expensive, but it was 5 years ago.

I don't know exactly what part # you are looking for
so this is a guess at it.

Thanks for all the responses. Am in the process of following up on the leads now. There are two suppliers who say they "believe" the parts are in stock, but will call back to confirm. Another has requested photos and measurements for an inventory check.

There is a difference between a u-joint for a 1/2 ton 3 speed and a 1/2 ton 4 speed transmission....
The one in the link above is for a 3 speed.

Thanks to everyone for the help, suggestions and time to look up possible sources. I finally located a NOS assembly today and the vendor assured me it will be enroute no later than tomorrow. These items seem to be almost non-existent at this time and most vendors are saying they have no u-joint assemblies in stock and no idea when or even if replacements will be available. As a side note: several sources stated there are foreign (ie Chinese) assemblies available and advised to stay far away from them because of quality issues. Just FYI
