The U.S. banned it then removed the ban with restrictions regarding chemical usage and disposal. Therefore cad is now expensive and the replacement is Zinc chromate. Most hardware stores will have the zinc coating on their carbon steel hardware. Which is OK for your truck, looks good and is the low price you desire.(grade 5). Aircraft industry still uses Cad plated (Mil Spec) on non stainless hardware because it is much better for their requirements. If a supplier has Cad plated, it could be 5X higher +. Don't think you want galvanized, up to you.
