I have googled this for hours.
I have a generic 7 wire turn signal switch that came with one of my trucks.
No wiring diagram.

I have taken it apart and figured out how it works.

Orange and Red go to flasher
Blue and Green are front and rear
Black and Cyan are front and rear
yellow is directly to the green light on the tip of the flasher

This one does not have emergency flashers.
I think this is the same one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-TURN-AND-...080-/200674485234?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

I think I understand how to wire up the switch.
Im hung up on the tail lights.
Im using a 32 ford style tail lights with two wires.
one for stop, and one for running lights.

Green = running
Black = Stop

How do I tie the brake lights and the flashers together.
If I run a wire from the brake switch to the black on the tail light
I will have stop lights. They will be lit rather turn signal is on or off.

So, it seems one of the wires on this turn signal switch should be tied into the stop lights.

The orange and red?
The orange is one side and red is the other side.
These have to go to the flasher, if they do not one side wont get power.

Strangely this is a 6 wire and not a 7 wire.
The yellow wire goes straight to the green light on the tip.
It is not connected to the switch in any way.

Anyone have any ideas?

That is how I expected this one to work... but I am missing
the wire from the stop switch. That is the 7th wire.
I only have 6.

That article is great, but again there are 7 wires.

MINE: HIS
GREEN: Green - left front
BLUE: Red - right front
GREY: Gray - left rear
BLACK: Black - right rear
ORANGE: Yellow - flasher (load)
RED: Blue - flasher (pilot)

DONT HAVE: Gray / Black - stop light switch

I don't have the stop light switch wire.
I like that chart. That is exactly how I figured
out what colors mine used.

I just found this.
http://www.classychevusa.com/index....egory_id=5/home_id=5/mode=prod/prd32.htm

That has the same colors but doesn't work.
I am 100% certain that red is one side and orange is the other.
While yellow completely bypass the switch and runs straight to the light in the tip of the switch.
it is not in any way connected to the switch.

I freely admit that I have a teflon mind regarding anything electrical. Nothing sticks with me.

I've found a procedure over on the HAMB by "Crazy Steve" that you can use to make sure of the function of each of your six wires.

I went to Napa to get a 3 prong flasher and they had a normal 7 wire turn signal in stock. I bought that one and it took me less the 10 minutes to have it all wired in and working.

There is just something weird with the one that came with the truck.

sounds like what I am trying to do right now. I actually got a reply when I was connection my signalstat 900 up with a helpful diagram I used and have since lot. I can lay something down, turn around and it will never be seen again. but the little indicator light on the signalstat does not work thought the rest does. I had this thought that the panel on my 61 has one flash indicator for both sides and I think I can do a little troubleshooting and isolate the wire in the bundle that feeds it. can anybody tell me which wire off the signalstat or the 3 prong flasher might be hooked up to that dash light to allow it to flash with either side? Skelflyer, it is best to ID your truck with your questions.

Best I can figure, you want to use the individual left/right indicators in the dash instrument. To use them you won't use the P terminal on the flasher. You will need to tap into the left front wire for the left indicator and right front for the right one. Wired that way you could use a 2 prong flasher.

That is what I wanted to do, but apparently my truck- a 61 GMC half ton has just one indicator light in the panel. if it had two I was going to do just that. but by some electrical magic, it must feed the bulb from the flasher through the magic of printed circuits. I attempted yesterday to figure the circuit out with my voltmeter set on Ohms but gave up and put it back in after lubricating the speedometer and managing to get it hooked hack to the cable which had been left off. haven't got a chance to test drive it yet to see if that works but hope so. also figured out I have a bad socket in the hood for my left parking light. tried to fix it but must be defective in the molded socket so need to order one if they are available. otherwise have all the lights working now.
