Okay, so I am helping a friend try to put power steering in a 61 K10 Chevy. We have a PS gear box and drag link parts from a 74 K5 Blazer with the pitman arm and drag link. We've run into a couple of issues. I read in another post on hear (from GMC Collector) that the one end of the drag link needs NAPA part number MRC ES2234R (Blazer tie rod end??) to fit into the steering arm end. While this part does seem to fit, as far as the taper on the shaft where it fits into the steering arm is concerned, we have two other issues

1) The part needs to have left handed threads on it to screw into that end of the adjusting sleeve on the drag link and the part number above id right handed threads
2) The part interferes with the large bracket on top of the leaf spring that the U bolts bolt onto. Because it is much larger in diameter than the original link rod that was on the truck.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks, Jim

Go to the following link. It has everything you need including pics, part #'s etc. to do this. Even has the same truck '61 K10.

Thanks for all of the pictures guys. We got the new steering gear box installed today and I found a tie rod end that had LH thread and same taper dimensions as the MRC ES2234R, so we were able to use the front part of the drag link from the Blazer and screw the new tie rod into the adjusting sleeve. It is also fairly short, so it works out well length wise using it with the Blazer part of the drag link.
the body of the new tie rod end is also a bit smaller in diameter than the MRC ES2234R, so that minimized the contact with the leaf spring bracket such that we were able get proper clearance by grinding some off of the spring bracket.
Still have to shorten the steering shaft and get the PS pump mounted up. Also need a different harmonic balancer pulley, as the one on ther now only has 1 belt groove

you do not need a new harmonic balancer. the extra pulley just bolts onto the front of it
