Hi Everybody
I just found out a company is making for 8 lug front end (like my 1 ton) disc brake kits. I wrote to the fellow selling them and he says that they should work with the older 47-54 1 ton spindles. Does anybody on here know if they are the same part or not?
Here is the link to the ebay ad:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/350973126802?item=350973126802&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr

I have been doing a lot of reading on this subject and it looks like maybe this will work. Any insight from you folks with more knowledge than me would be great...It would save me a lot of head scratching thats for sure.

No, not the same.
The bearing diameters on the spindles are different between 52 and 53. See this bearing info https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=604816#Post604816
That said the mounting ears on the spindle for the backing plate may or may not be different, and that's what matters I expect.

You can probably get around any possible troubles by using the later model spindles and hubs if necessary on your older axle beam, the king pin diameter/kit should be the same.

Ask the seller any questions but even if you try it out on your own I think it could be made to work if it's not a direct bolt on to the older axle.

Hi Grigg

Thanks so much for that link. A lot of stuff on that thread for sure. I think I have skimmed over it before. I will have to take your advice and contact the seller once my truck gets to me and I can really look it over and make sure it is what is supposed to be. Yeah I saw ad of Ebay and I was thrilled to see maybe I would have a source for those caliper brackets already made.

This is going to be a fun rebuild I hope. My goal is a daily driver type vehicle with a modern braking system and a lower gear ratio for more traffic friendly driving.
