Horn blows when I put pressure on the steering wheel or turn the wheel hard left or right. Thought I had it figured out by replacing the screws that retain the canceling cam on back of steering wheel (making contact) but the problem still persists. Anyone out there ever expierience this problem or know what the problem might be? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. THANKS BIG DAVE

It looks like you have a short that is allowing the circuit to close when you move the steering wheel as noted. More info about your truck will help with the diagnosis (year/model/etc.).

Even if I had, it's not good practice to assume it's the vehicle being referred to. As you know there a number of 'bolters who own more than one and it's always good practice to provide as much info as possible about a vehicle you're asking for help with.

Stuart | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 863 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 863 | The horn contact plate below the horn button is a convex spring steel washer isolated from the attachinf bolts by cardboard washers or nylon washers, as the horn button is pushed the spring steel deforms touching ground completing the circuit. Check for worn/broken isolators excessive play grounding out causing horn to blow...or the contact pin/spring is grounding inside the steering wheel as it turns...??? | | |
