The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Doors door striker replacement backing plate

I have a 51 Chevy 3100. I replaced the handles, latches , and the strikers, the issue is that the strikers bolt to a (plate or 2 separate plates). I cant find them or see them on a parts list anywhere. The original part where 2 individual small plates that had threaded holes that lined up with the strikers, it slid trough the door inner frame so that the striker could be mounted.From reading they are called cage nuts. can these be purchased anywhere?

You are correct on the parts description but they are plates not nuts and there are actually are at least three versions of them, I believe the reason you may not be seeing them is they are part of the cab assembly. By their design they are not considered a service part but assembly parts. Examples of types, early serrated versions 1947-51 and smooth versions from 52-53, 54-55 are slightly different.
