However the engine we have is painted red and is a original 1949 216 engine. Anyone happen to know why the engine is red? Was this an option back then?

I had a rebuilt 235 the had a tag stating the piston and bearing sizes attached to the side of the block and the re-builder painted it red... Mike B | | |
