i have a 1949 235 with a 1110149 403 dist
make worn off delco ???
anyway it has no vacume advance. the clamp with machine screw that holds it looks good wraps around dist and has
single bolt for adjusting on block. did some not have the vacume advance ??

They all used a vacuum advance. It will run but will be sluggish without it. They are available at most of the aftermarket suppliers. Many are listed on this site.

Yes, they'll hurt you. Even worse I ordered a NOS one and the bellows were bad from git-go, stupid me. So I wound up having to buy 2 of them, new and old.

ok
so is ok to use the vacume advance assembly off of
a 1959 engine i have for now.

Yes the vacuum advance from the newer motor will work just fine. If it won't fit on the older clamp just use the whole assembly. It slips right off if the clamp screw is loose.

I bought a used dist with vacuum advance off ebay for $19. I specifically asked if the vacuum advance was good and it was. Although the plating is not very shiny frown

Plus now I have a second dist rebuilt as a spare.
