I created some CAD files of the letters used on the 1954-1987 Stepside & 1960-1966 Fleetside tailgates.

A sign shop can use the files to make masking templates, or to cut letters out of vinyl.

If you're ok with vinyl in white, black or chrome then Classic Parts or one of the other vendors is likely the most cost effective approach.

Send me a PM with your email address if you'de like the CAD files and I'll "hook you up". thumbs_up

Are the letters on a '60-'66 stepside different from those on a fleetside? My truck is being painted and I would like to have the letters white again as they are supposed to be. Thanks.

Yes... ref. the links posted above. Fleetside is boxy and square, stepside is more round and less symmetrical.

Do you have a cad file for the earlier lettering for 1950 step side?

I don't, but I can make one. What I need is:

1.0 A high resolution photo of the lettering taken from a distance about 20 feet behind the truck
2.0 The letter height
3.0 The overall width of the lettering, from the left hand side of the Chevrolet "C", to the right hand side - top of the Chevrolet "T"

Look at the above links for ref.

You get me the photo and dim's and I'll make the CAD files. thumbs_up

John,
I will PM you my info as soon as I have enough posts and I have PM rights. I've been a member for years, but haven't posted until today (this is my post #2).

What format do you have? I use an old version (AutoCAD2000) so .dwg or .dxf would work.

Well... thanks for posting yahoo

I actually use AutoCAD Inventor, but then generate .dwg and .dxf files. You should be able to pull these right up in AutoCAD 2000. thumbs_up

If you can't PM here try this link and send the PM to me over there: http://talk.classicparts.com/showthread.php?t=13928
