I am installing a remote oil filter, it is mounted by couple bolts using the side motor mount location. I was ready to cut and bend the copper piping this afternoon but decided to ask if there should be at least rubber hose part way as to absorb vibration. I would hate to lose my engine due to a cracked oil pipe. Thanks for your advice

Hy 1951Chevy1Ton, is this filter going to be a bypass or full filtration filter. If it is going to be a bypass you can use smaller diameter lines and if you incorporate a loop into their configuration they are less likely to fracture. If it is for full filtration then I would use flexible line of a large enough diameter not to restrict flow to the engine, copper line of a large enough diameter to flow enough would be difficult to bend if needed, hope that helps.

Are you using the original equipment type remote filter, or an adapter intended for a modern disposable spin-on filter? The original bypass filters used flex lines to and from the filter housing. If it's a modern spin on filter, you need a 1/16" diameter restrictor bushing somewhere in the plumbing to avoid starving the engine for oil. If you choose hard lines, it might be a wiser choice to use steel lines rather than copper, similar to fuel line or brake line tubing.
