From hunting this same information before, I have concluded that the speedometer cable will need to come out of the speedo-head as straight as possible. There is a large grommeted hole in the firewall that is pretty much directly in front of the instrument cluster. I believe that both the speedometer cable and choke cable pass through the large firewall hole.
