I am converting from 6v to 12v and my gas gauge wasn't working before the change over...can some one tell me what the matching specs are on the Gauge & Sending Unit.

Also can the gauge be set up to run as a 12 volt without having to use a step-down transformer? If it has to be sent out...please let me know who would do this.

Thank you all.

Lots of posts on just this issue. Most recommend a "Runtz" inline with the gauge to keep it safe at 12 volts. Some gauges can be fixed and some cannot. The gauge is matched with a 30 ohm sender and this is true for both 6 volt and 12 volt gauges. You should check the wire and connections before you pull the dash apart. You might just have a bad wire. Do a search for fuel gauge and you will get a lot of good information. Good luck and have fun. Let us know how you fare.

John,
Thanks for using your name. Always nice to address a person by a real name.
Jim Carter either has or does rebuilding of gauges. Contact him at Phone: 1.800.842.1913 to see if he can help you or direct you to someone who can.
