The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline Clutch actuation rod

On my '55 2nd 3100, the part that pulls the clutch fork is a 3/8 rod bent at a 90deg on one end. Over the years of use it had elongated the hole in the lever to almost the point of failure. My first idea of a fix, was to put a bushing of some type in the hole in the lever. But the other end of the rod was wearing out the hole in the clutch fork as well. One of my buds came up with the idea of a heim joint, "thanks Bruce" A quick trip to Ace hardware for a 3/8 female heim joint, a few washers and nuts and a piece of 3/8 allthread, and a plan was devised. Here's a pic of the new rod installed, the heim joint is bolted to the lever, in the original hole. My clutch fork has been modified some time in the past, don't know if it was a repair job or modification for the Pontiac 400 engine that is in the truck.
