This is my first post in the electrical bay. We , my ten year son and an occasional friend, are swapping out a tired 235 for a newer stronger model. I know that I will need a new wiring harness and have no idea where to start. I hope to start posting pictures next week. Any suggestions, hints, advice?? All suggestions are appreciated cause I'm a total novice amateur.

Thanks in advance

changing the engine won't affect the wiring, you need the standard harness for a 46, check the vendors in the Links pages, pick one that's close to where ever you are, with a good price, fly at it, if you have problems with the install someone here can help you thru

Ronnie Ray,

In addition to Bill's good advice:

Two decisions/needs that you should consider:

1. Do you want original appearance wiring (braided coverings - more expensive) or modern-appearance wiring.

2. Do you want many more circuits because you are adding accessories.

Jim Carter sells both kinds of wiring harnesses designed for your year. Other very good general-purpose modern-style harnesses (with fuse box/boxes) are available, but you would have to install/run wires, cut wires, and terminate ends.

Thanks for the tips. I am in the process of getting some pictures that I can post. Need to learn how to do that first. I hope to order a harness in the next couple of weeks so I can have that ready. I don't think I need the original style wiring. I like it best and saving some cash is always useful. I will probably want to add a circuit or two in the future

Thanks again

Ronnie Ray
