Perfect topic! 1958 Chevy 1/2 ton, 350 with some mods and a beefed Turbo 350. This winter im in the process of a rear end swap. Ditching my 10 bolt. I got a ford 9" made up with:
$680 - 9" Housing/Axle Package (58 Chevy Truck - Leaf Spring - Custom) - New Axles, Axle Bearings, Wheel Studs, & Retainers - 31 Spline, Choice of Bolt Pattern, 1/2" Studs $820 - Center Section (Assembled) - New 31 Spline Trac-Lock Posi - New Motive Performance Gears (Choice of Ratio) - New Timken USA Bearings Switching to Wilwood disc brakes also.
This is being built from quick performance. Pulled the truck in shortly after, pushed would be more accurate I guess. I'm just starting on mine so the hope is to get her all torn apart this winter. With any luck I'll find a donor s10 frame as well.

Whenever you leave behind failure that means you're doing better if you think everything you've done has been great you're probably dumb -Louis CK- '53 GMC | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 321 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 321 | Looking at finding some body parts and gather them for my next build....hoping to do a S10 frame swap in the coming year...

Kind of excite about seeing the engine run before I move forward with finishing cleaning the rest of the chassis and getting it painted and put the running gear under it. Just thought it would be a good thing to know the engine ran after the rebuild and then setting it on the chassis. Gonna post a video when it happens in 'Engine Talk'. | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 | I picked up a under dash mount radio head from the 30s or 40s that will turn on and off the stereo in the glove box,I will have the dial lit up and looking like I have a old radio in the 37. | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 8 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 8 | Just keep on driving. Had to strengthen the anti freeze. Had a couple of cold mornings spent thawing out the heater hoses with the hair dryer.
