I recently found a complete factory V-8/automatic 1961 Chevy 1/2 ton in a junkyard. How rare are the motor mounts, steering column, and tranny cross member? The mounts just sit on the crossmember with 4 bolts, and don't connect to the frame. Thanks

They are very rare now. The motor mounts don't seem to be all that desirable, but the transmission crossmembers are. I was lucky and got mine 20 years ago. Today they are routinely listed on Ebay for $250-$300. Also they are different for short or long bed. The short bed trans xmbr is narrower than the longbed version. Don't have any input to offer on the steering column.

restoration guys go bonkers for these parts. Hot Rodders just make their own.

Already did when I was in Arizona, just curious how rare they are. Only seen these parts once on a 6 cyl/auto truck. I have a 60 big window half ton fleetside shorty that I want to do an accurate resto on. Came with the side trim, 2 tone paint, custom cab, chrome bumpers, V-8, but has a 3 spd stick. You say that like it's a bad thing? Column shift or floor shift?

I have numbers matching '69 SS Camaro that has a 3 speed factory Muncie floor shifter.... kind of a rare beast.

So.. why is it your not a '62 and '63 fan... is it the hood or?

No such thing as a factory 3-speed floor shift. Auto or 3-speed on the column or 4-speed on the floor, are the only transmission options.

Well a factory V-8 3 on the tree sounds pretty freakin' awesome to me!

Not complaining at all, just trying to describe what I have and am trying to do. Mine is a 3 on the tree, and going with a automatic. I plan on adding factory options to what I already have. Love these 60-61 trucks, have 2 60's and a 61. Love the hoods and grille on these, lot more character in my opinion.

Those are cool trucks! We are a rare group of 1960 owners. I have a '60 big back window, LWB, custom. I am having a hard time finding better stainless trim pieces. Do you have any leads or connections? I have a complete set but some are beyond repair I believe. Maybe not. Do you happen to have the cursive chevrolet insignia mounted on your glove box? Ive only ever seen one other than mine. A nice touch anyways. I just figured I woukd ask since your truck has everything out of the factory!! Thats awesome. Have you posted any pics?

Brian Johnson in Owatonna, Mn. is very into the 60-62 Chevy trucks. He has almost everything you need ready to pickup or ship. He has picks of his trucks in the gallery. My 60 has the glovebox script, very rare 1 year on 1960 custom cabs only. I have a complete set of longbed trim, but I plan on using it. There is a few pieces on ebay right now. I will try to post pics of my 60 and my 61 custom cab lwb fleetside.
