My sixty four has a 305 V8 from an 88 caprice. I have been looking for an original cluster with gages since I want to keep the interior as original as possible. Should I expect any problems hooking everything up from the instrument cluster to the 305? The current instrument cluster on the truck ,with idiot lights, was not hooked up when I bought the truck. My second question is the price for a cluster with gages (no clock or tach in it). I have located one at a local salvage yard and they want $50 for it, with no guarentee that it will work. the oil guage is mechanical,the water guage is electric.you might could use parts from an after market guage for the oil guage.you will need a water temp sender,get the one in the engine if you can,i don't know you can buy new one.i just stuck in water and oil guages under the dash and left the dash guages unhooked,just for looks.

How bad do you want it? You know, "IT'S ONLY MONEY!" Me and my buddies scrounge for years to find all the parts for our rods. They spend more than $50.00 in entry fees just to look at swap meets. I plan to go to Hershey PA this fall, just to look for two outside door handles for my ride. BTW, I'm spending $800.00 to get my orginial gauges restored and repainted and they are already a month late in showing up. Can you feel my pain....oh, that's right, it a labor of love!

use your cluster before you spend money if need you can do that later,,,I see no big prob as 64,s came with V8, also...doc
