You will do these things...12 volt generator, 12 volt regulator, keep the York 12 volt coil, and keep your 6 volt starter as it will function OK.
You need to do these things. Change the battery to 12 volts. Use a Runtz or whatever for your fuel gauge, radio and maybe heater fan. Change headlights and a few other bulbs and you're in business.
To me, this is the most sensible way to approach this dilemma. The half and half system is trouble waiting to happen.
If this is all for the compressor clutch, I sure hope it's worth it.
